AKROSS CON 2012
IT CONTAINS SPOILERS!

Just to make it clear: I know the sync is not perfect, i know the use of the special FX is not the best, I know the clips I choose may have been seen before, but I just had to make a video with this awesome song! I reccomend it to anyone, since it is a challenging song with nice changes and nice melody.
Also, the subtitles I used in some occasions, I used them because I thought they would make the video more cool and epic, and of course more sentimental.

Morevoer, it took me like 2 weeks to finish it and I hope you'll like it(even a little bit :D).

The final part of the video was like an inspiration of the moment and thought that it would be awesome to show Luffy using his new ability!

P.S. During the rendering(and every single time I repeated it), for some reason Sony Vegas changed the resolution, but somehow it was left almost unharmed, but you will notice some "problems".

[QUOTE=AnimeFanaticBoy, Did you know that I'm not obligated to watch your video, but I still do it? Reason: That's my way to show respect to the creator. The creator took the time to make the video, no matter good or bad, as another editor, I watch it, because we share the same passion. [/QUOTE]

Wow dont misjudge me never said that u have to watch my videos :D. Thats what i said: "the viewer-critic level u spoke about , i think we should first see some videos (youtube has too many of them) so we can work on a general concept of video editing and we can try to avoid the mistakes people did on these videos, so that the general idea will advance and finally become better." I too watch any amv i can first to show the other author that his work is worth watching for (even if the video isnt really good) and second cause i want to improve my style by watching what others do bad and get negative feedback. And of course youtube is an influence and i explained how (we watch other authors videos and we try to avoid the mistakes they did and finally make a video that is more completed)

PS really u havent seen this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3BPgyhStLk
xD

You got some points, but still:

 Feanor100 @ 03 November 2012, 08:35
who hasnt seen : "This Is One Piece"?

I haven't

Also:

 Feanor100 @ 03 November 2012, 08:35
do you think that these guys (famous editors) would listen to the opinion of a single guy

Are they famous? :wow:
Also, how many times have they participated in the AKROSS Con or any Contest outside YouTube? The reason: Some of them are already warned about the differences between their 'Comfortable Zone' and the 'Outside Zone'

I have talked with some of them at least once, so don't think I don't really know them, but everytime I mention AKROSS or Big Contest, they always end putting useless excuses. So why so scared? You don't want to take a real challenge?

And... if they are stuck into a 'security zone' that means that they will keep making the same and the same and the same style many times. Personally, that's discouraging, because the function of a feedback is to help the author improve, also seeing a repetition of the same bothers. Please notice that even the most skilled editors can't believe in lies like thinking they can't improve anymore. Like saying: All my amvs are perfect, if you don't think the same, you're a loser etc, etc, etc.

That means that is more important the ego rather than the edition of the video. You got a point: If this is a hobby, you're supposed to enjoy the making of a video. If you're not enjoying the making, you're just losing the time.

And considering YouTube is one of the most viewed sites of videos, yes, any normal person can say he/she has watched videos from the site. But I disagree: YouTube as an influence? How?

The 'YouTube style' expression is just a reflection of doing bad in amvs or simply making averages videos.

You even said it: It will be sad if only author him/herself enjoys the video, cause at the end, you'll get that annoying feeling of "I believe my friends should watch it" then other people, and then you'll need attention. It's normal

That's curious that you mention the critic level:

Did you know that I'm not obligated to watch your video, but I still do it?
Reason: That's my way to show respect to the creator. The creator took the time to make the video, no matter good or bad, as another editor, I watch it, because we share the same passion.

If I just ignore it, that means I don't care about it, and that's a terrible way to be a critic, an editor and a judge. I'm a betatester that can say you that, if I don't take the time to think about what I'll say about the video.

I agree with you: I dislike useless comments. You remind me myself when I first made my ever first video when I was 12 years old 10 years ago.

And don't worry about the comments. You're free to keep commenting. I can extend you a hand in future videos

Guys i really want to answer to all your comments but is it allowed to "spam" in a videos forum? whatever. First RTW47 and AnimeAanaticBoy: Most people on earth use youtube on a daily basis and we amv makers have watched the "mainstream" amv (at least thats what i believe, if not correct me but who hasnt seen : "This Is One Piece"?)

Second RTW47: do you think that these guys (famous editors) would listen to the opinion of a single guy (also most of them have entries in contests, with very good results)?

Third AnimeFanaticBoy: Do you really think that there is even one person in this site(contest) who hasnt watched amv from youtube and havent been influeced from them, a bit? of course we all have our unique style and we want to create good videos but for example if we upload a video on any site and it doesnt get views we get dissapointed and then we think "why make amv if no one watch them?". Well, the answer i have given to myself is: "I create videos for my own enjoyment and only and, theoretically talking, don't give a s**t what others thnk about them(although I wouldn't mind some more attention :D)".

Moreover, the viewer-critic level u spoke about , i think we should first see some videos (youtube has too many of them) so we can work on a general concept of video editing and we can try to avoid the mistakes people did on these videos, so that the general idea will advance and finally become better.

I personally don't get discouraged by anything (the only thing that annoys me are thoughtless, useless comments, but not discourage here :P) and i ll try to improve as much as my time allows me to (im 16 and the 2 last years of school in greece are a f***n pain in the a*s, so i dont got much time to work on videos) and I ll gladly accept any help u can offer me.

PS. If there are too many grammar mistakes, pls excuse them. AND, just so i dont forget, thank you everyone for spending a bit of your time to watch my video and leave ur thoughts and ur critic behind.
AnimeFanaticBoy  [ 03 November 2012, 00:40 ]
You don't seem like a kind of 'Novice' author, I like that

The situation is that there are general thoughts about the amvs. Some can say you need a 'Ultra-New-revolutionary' amv, while I'm with the part that believes that as long as the video is enjoyable and makes the viewer rewatch it again and again, that's already a sucess.

But I disagree: You can't really say (at least about the asocciation) that people here are youtubers when several of them don't even have a Yt account or are related with the concept of 'Viewer and not Critic' one

Don't get discouraged. Take your time to see and study the amvs from several authors here. You'll realize how you'll do in the future. I can even help you with betatesting, you just have to ask me or any of the critics here

On youtube most viewers would say "cool" "awesome" etc. just because they are fans of one piece. Yet you would hardly receive any objective critisism there. It's kinda hard to explain. See authors like fedebankai, gregz, loosecontroi etc. they are kings of youtube style.
In contests people are expecting to see something amazing and original so everyone literally butchers amvs with overused anime scenes such as this. Unless, of course the author manages to make something technically amazing but that takes skill. Certainly you can enter the contest with whatever you want but such videos don't really stand a chance to win. Nothing unexpected here. Just saying...
Don't be discouraged though. If you improve your editing skills and choose a more original source you'll definitely have better chances here. Good luck.

man fedebankai, gregz, loosecontroi etc. are awesome editors even if u say they are the "kings" of youtube style... their videos are really nice and artistic and also most of us here (maybe all) are youtubers(correct me if im wrong) and we have wathced the top one piece amv. other than that i can understand what you mean about youtube style now, but whats wrong about a cool video? the fact is that the one who used the scened first he got the most feedback and we just found the same scenes and thought they would fit our video very well so we used them... you are right about everything u say, but since we all are influenced from youtube , its impossible not to make videos like those u mentioned. however there are always some exception and i personally try not to make amv that look like "youtube style"(just trying, as u can see i m far from perfect :D)
